Simple Tips about Food and Eating

We've heard lots of simple things we can do or avoid doing that can assist in gaining or maintaining a healthy body.   We make no claims as to either their accuracy or effectiveness, however, because we have found them personally helpful, we pass them on to you.   We invite your comments, feedback and/or additions.   Contact Us .

Avoid Eating Just Prior to Sleep:   Avoid eating for at least two hours prior to going to bed.   The purpose for sleep is to regenerate the body.  If you eat just before bedtime, the body shifts its focus to digesting the food and, this not only interferes with the rejuvenation process, it also turns much of the food into fat.  

Smaller Dishes:   When eating, use smaller dishes.   This is a practical matter and an image issue. When you've eaten the entire dish full, you've eaten less food and the inner mind also sees an end to eating.  To eat more food, you must make the effort to get a second helping.

Take Smaller Bites.   This slows the eating process down and allows time for the body to register that it's had enough food.  

Chew Your Food Longer.    This, too, slows the eating process down and allows time for the body to register that it's had enough food.   It's also a major aid to proper food digestion. 

Take a Deep Breath Between Bites.   This slows the eating process down and allows time for the body to register that it's had enough food.  It's also a tool to bring consciousness into your eating process.

Wait Five Minutes:   Wait for five, or ten ,or fifteen minutes before taking a second helping of food.   Put off taking the next bite, the next helping, the next whatever you are about to do.   We are used to short delays, so the body and the mind will accept a short delay without much resistance   

Removing Body Toxins:  According to research done in Russia, one can reduce the toxins in the body by, each day, holding a tablespoon of sunflower oil in your mouth for twenty minuets.   Swish the oil around in your mouth and under your tongue and then, after twenty minutes spit it out into the toilet.   We've been told that is so toxic that you don't want it in your sink. 

Acid / Alkaline Balance:   Maintaining a proper acid-alkaline balance in your body is also very important.   We've been told to once per day to add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in about a quarter to a third of a glass of water and then drink the water.   The claim is that this aids in shifting the acid/alkaline balance toward the alkaline side.  

Carbonated Beverages:   Avoid or reduce the consumption of carbonated beverages.  Why because they dramatically shift the acid/alkaline balance toward the acid side.
